What are the most popular lash serums and how do they compare?

Perhaps the most famous lash serum is Latisse. Latisse is a lash serum that originated as a glaucoma medication designed to treat high pressure inside the eye. Patients and their doctors noticed the side effect of longer, thicker, darker eyelashes. Latisse works to extend the growth phase and lash length along with it.

Some of the key differences between Latisse and EyEnvy are availability and price. Whereas EyEnvy is conveniently available at spas and salons like IVONNE, Latisse is technically a medication which requires a prescription from a doctor. EyEnvy is competitively priced, whereas Latisse costs roughly $150. By comparison, eyelash extensions can cost between $80 and $280, monthly.

EyEnvy also differs from Latisse in terms of possible side effects. When using Latisse, a number of side effects are possible, ranging from dry eyes and chronic inflammation to permanent darkening of the iris in users with light eyes. These potential side effects are linked to Latisse's key active ingredient, bimatoprost, which lengthens the hair growth period. However, bimatoprost is a chemical similar to the body's own prostaglandins, which signal inflammation within the body. EyEnvy does not contain bimatoprost or other prostaglandins, and works instead by nourishing the lashes with peptides and moisturizing factors, encouraging growth and discouraging breakage. In terms of side effects, EyEnvy users have noticed eye irritation and darkening of the skin around their eyes. As with any new skincare or makeup product, discontinue use if irritation occurs.

What is the difference between a lash serum and a lash lift?

Lash serums and lash lifts are quite different from one another, but work together particularly well.

Lash serums like EyEnvy are a product that can be used at home to encourage lash growth. Serums help users achieve longer, thicker lashes; however, a lash serum will not lift or curl those new, long lashes. This is where lash lifts come in. A lash lift is a professional salon service best thought of as a perm for your lashes.
